The twinning committee between Plouénan and Plainfaing is about to launch a new chapter in its history. Indeed, a trip to Alsace is planned, promising rich cultural exchanges and beautiful discoveries. This initiative follows a first successful experience in Plainfaing, where a delegation from Plouénan had the opportunity to explore the wonders of the Vosges and Alsace. The aim of this trip is to strengthen the friendly ties between these two municipalities and foster interactions on various levels.
A travel project that generates enthusiasm #
The members of the Plouénan-Plainfaing twinning committee are buzzing with excitement as this eagerly awaited trip approaches. Scheduled for December 2025, this journey to Alsace is the result of significant preparatory work. Volunteers and association leaders are tasked with building an attractive activity program, which will include visits to historical sites, exchanges with locals, and moments of camaraderie highlighting local traditions.
A journey to Alsace marked by cultural exchange #
At the heart of this adventure is cultural exchange, which is a major focus. The two municipalities, although separated by significant distance, share common values such as open-mindedness and the desire to discover one another. The trip aims to create bridges between the Plouénanais and the Plainfaingeois, through enriching encounters where each party can discover the specifics of the other’s culture. Whether it involves culinary traditions, music, or crafts, each moment will be precious for strengthening these ties.
A first enriching experience #
The recent visit of a delegation from Plouénan to Plainfaing, which took place from September 15 to 21, 2024, was a significant moment in this collaboration. Composed of about thirty members, this delegation was able to immerse itself in the Alsatian landscapes and experience the hospitality of the Plainfaingeois. This exchange was an opportunity to establish personal relationships, share ideas, and unite the efforts of both municipalities to build a common future.
Towards continuity of exchanges #
Building on this first experience, the twinning committee aims to sustain these exchanges. The interest in the trip to Alsace has mobilized numerous volunteers who are committed to preparing this project. Additionally, a community fair was recently held in Plouénan, attracting over 1,100 visitors, thus demonstrating the enthusiasm and support of the local community for the twinning and its activities. The funds raised during this event will be used to finance part of the planned activities for the upcoming trip.
Registration and participation #
To make this experience accessible to as many people as possible, the twinning committee encourages anyone interested to sign up. Although places for the trip to Alsace are limited, options such as forming waiting lists will be implemented. Furthermore, the upcoming Christmas market in Plouénan will be another opportunity to discover handcrafted products from Plainfaing while supporting the twinning. Participants will also be able to taste local specialties, further strengthening the link between the two municipalities.

The twinning with Plainfaing represents a true asset for the municipality of Plouénan, both culturally and relationally.
