Giving an enchanted break to children in difficulty #

For more than a century, theLouis Conlombant association is dedicated to providing vacation to children who do not have the chance to go with their parents. In Normandy, volunteer families open their homes and their hearts to welcome these young vacationers. Summer 2024 is approaching and the association is actively looking for new hosts.

A family and enriching experience #

For three years, Nathalie Lehideux-Esline has been one of those families who open their doors to children. “They tell me: we’re coming back like our grandparents,” she says. Each vacation period, it plans a multitude of activities, ranging from theme parks to trips to the sea. These magical moments offered to children are a breath of happiness in their often difficult daily lives.

Stays adapted to each child #

Children aged 3 to 11, often looked after by thechild welfare, found refuge with host families in Normandy. Jean-Michel Polge, president of the association, specifies that they offer stays of fifteen days to two months during the summer. Currently, there is a shortage of host families for the beginning of August, requiring new applications.

A united and well-supervised mission #

Volunteer families must be able to offer a bed for each child and a separate bedroom for children over 8 years old. Hosts receive a one day training to be well prepared. “We give them information on technical, organizational and regulatory levels. Families are never alone, there is always a contact person who can respond to their request,” explains Jean-Michel Polge.

Be a volunteer without being alone #

Volunteers, host families receive a compensation of €24 per day per child, covering the costs of accommodation, food and activities. To facilitate logistics, a bus connects Paris to Granville every weekend, dropping off the children approximately 30 km from their family destination.

Join the initiative #

For this summer, the Louis Conlombant association hopes to find “30 or 40 more families” for the critical period from July 19 to August 18, so that all registered children can experience unforgettable vacation.
