IN BRIEF

In Australia, it is now possible to declare your trip online before landing in Brisbane with Qantas flights #
A revolution in travel to Australia: passengers on Qantas flights can now fill out their digital travel declaration up to 72 hours before their arrival in Brisbane. This advancement, which significantly eases the administrative burden on travelers, demonstrates the Australian Border Force’s commitment to modernizing and improving the travel experience while maintaining high security standards.
A simplified process thanks to technology
With the rise of technology, Brisbane International Airport now offers passengers the ability to complete their passenger card directly through the Qantas app. This digital system replaces the traditional rectangular orange card often distributed during flights, allowing travelers to enter their personal information and reasons for travel even before leaving their home country.

The advantages of a pre-registered declaration
By filling out this declaration in advance, passengers avoid the inconveniences of searching for a pen or feeling the pressure of the deadline once on board the plane. The declaration, filled out in English, can be comfortably completed using a smartphone, representing a considerable time-saving upon arrival. This initiative is part of a broader effort to optimize the traveler experience, especially with upcoming global events like the 2032 Olympic Games.
Program evolution and encouraging results
This program started in October 2024 in Brisbane for passengers coming from New Zealand, before being extended to those arriving from Los Angeles in March 2025, and then to all international flights. Already, more than 12,000 passengers have adopted this digital method, proving its effectiveness and appeal. User feedback reflects the satisfaction generated by this simple and quick option, with comments such as “It was about time!” highlighting the anticipation for such modernization.
The process to follow for passengers
Once the travel declaration is completed via the Qantas app, passengers receive a digital pass and a QR code, sent directly to their phone or email address. Upon arrival, they simply need to show this information to the Australian Border Force agents at the counter, making the entry process smoother and more efficient.
A future expansion of the service
With the success encountered in Brisbane, this digital declaration option is expected to be expanded to other major cities in Australia, notably Sydney and Melbourne, as well as to other airlines. This development is a testament to the ongoing evolution in the travel sector, aiming to facilitate movements while easing administrative constraints.
