The Historic Treasures of Soulac #
Soulac is full of historical treasures like the bunkers of the Atlantic Wall, remains of the Second World War. Currently covered in colorful graffiti by street artists, these bunkers have become playgrounds for children. The Villas 1900: A Dive into the Past #
The 1900 villas district is a must-see in Soulac. With nearly 500 villas built between 1860 and 1890, these red brick residences decorated with colorful woodwork recall the fashion for sea bathing which appealed to the Bordeaux bourgeoisie. The arrival of the railway in 1874 accelerated their development. Today, these houses bear picturesque names like Colette, Vent du large or Pâquerette, adding a touch of poetry to every street corner.

Soulac retains a village spirit where “everyone knows each other”, as Romain, a seasonal worker at Cyclo’Star. After a career as an ergonomist, he returned to his hometown, attracted by its friendly atmosphere and its immense open beaches. Most of his friends followed the same path, forming a close-knit community welcoming to newcomers.
The Notre-Dame-de-la-End-des-Terres Basilica #
Iconic monument of Soulac, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Fin-des-Terres basilica is an architectural jewel saved from quicksand. Built in the 12th century, the church faced the natural elements for a long time before being restored in the 19th century. Today, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a stopover on the way to Santiago de Compostela.
