A trip to the heart of history #

Virginie Mazière and Delphine Toussaint, the involved teachers, decided to address crucial themes such as the Landing and Liberation by organizing a two-day trip to the Normandy coast, scheduled for April 2025. The students will have the opportunity to visit iconic sites such as the Normandy Victory Museum in Carentan-les-Marais, the Airborne Museum in Sainte-Mère-Église, as well as Omaha Beach and the American cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer. These visits will be enhanced by immersive activities that will help the children better understand the impact of these historical events.

The financial challenges of an ambitious project #

This educational trip represents a significant financial challenge, particularly due to the number of students involved, nearly fifty children in total. The total budget amounts to approximately €8,000, a sum that requires special attention regarding its financing. To achieve this, the teachers have applied for various grants, notably from the Évreux town hall, the Ministry of the Armed Forces, and organizations such as the National Federation André-Maginot and the French Remembrance.

A crowdfunding campaign to support the project #

To reduce the cost of the trip for families and the institution, Virginie Mazière and Delphine Toussaint also launched an online fundraising campaign on the Trousse à Projets platform, which will be open for 60 days. This initiative, launched on October 10th, is essential to help cover part of the costs of the stay. Every contribution, no matter how small, plays a crucial role in the realization of this project. The teachers believe that this fundraising is a great opportunity for the community to get involved in the education of young people.

Funding prospects and expectations #

The crowdfunding campaign has a cap of €1,500, and if this amount is not reached, donors will be refunded. However, it is hoped that the campaign will reach up to €3,000, allowing the school to offer rewards described on the platform. The teachers view this trip as a unique opportunity for their students to learn and discover history in a lively and memorable way.
