The Academic Zones in France #

Zone A
The A zone includes the academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon, and Poitiers. Students in this zone follow a school calendar that is unique to them, distinctly different from the other zones.
Zone B
The B zone includes the academies of Aix-Marseille, Amiens, Lille, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Nice, Normandy, Orléans-Tours, Reims, Rennes, and Strasbourg. This zone is characterized by certain dates that will be particularly beneficial for families.
Zone C

The Dates of School Holidays #
For the 2024-2025 school year, here are the holiday dates for each zone:
- Zone A: Winter holidays from Saturday, February 22, to Monday, March 10, 2025.
- Zone B: Winter holidays from Saturday, February 8, to Monday, February 24, 2025.
- Zone C: Winter holidays from Saturday, February 15, to Monday, March 3, 2025.
The summer holiday periods end with Saturday, July 5, 2025, for all zones, marking the end of the school year.
Specificities of Holidays for Each Zone #
During the All Saints’ Day holidays, all students, regardless of their zone, will benefit from the same schedule. Thus, the holidays begin on Saturday, October 19, 2024, and end on Monday, November 4, 2024. For the Christmas holidays, the schedule remains uniform as well, spanning from Saturday, December 21, 2024, to Monday, January 6, 2025.
However, the winter and spring holidays show notable variations between the zones. Zone B, for example, has the advantage of an extended stay for the Easter holidays since Easter Monday falls within the continuity of the spring holidays. This means that students will enjoy an extra day off.

A Little Bonus for Zone B #
The real advantage for families in Zone B occurs during the spring holidays. On one hand, the winter holidays do not overlap with days in other zones, but on the other hand, Zone B benefits particularly from the Easter schedule. Indeed, Easter Monday, which falls after the spring holidays, extends this break until Tuesday, April 22, 2025. This is a nice addition that families will greatly appreciate.
Additionally, the public holidays in May, notably May 1 and May 8 in 2025, falling on a Thursday, create a wonderful opportunity to enjoy long weekends throughout the month. If days off are taken around these public holidays, families could even enjoy a total of eight days of vacation.
