An ambitious educational project #

The trip, which will take place from February 4 to 8, 2025, represents an invaluable opportunity for the college students. This stay in London aims to immerse them in the English language and encourage them to practice their language skills in real-life situations. The enthusiasm is palpable among the students, who have dreamed of this adventure. This project was initiated by Aurélie de Dutto, an English teacher at Simone Veil College, and has benefited from the support of several families and partners.

The benefits of language immersion #

Language immersion offers numerous advantages for young learners. Not only does it allow them to practice English in an authentic setting, but it also fosters cohesion among the students. By traveling together, they will have the opportunity to strengthen their friendships and share enriching experiences. Furthermore, this immersion will enable them to discover a different culture, which is a key element of their education.

The cost of the trip and funding challenges #

Organizing such a distant trip represents a significant cost for families. Initially estimated at 507 euros per student, the price has been reduced to 410 euros thanks to assistance from the department and a donation from the college’s socio-educational fund. The objective is to reach a cost of 392 euros through the Project Trousse, a platform that allows for fundraising through donations from individuals and professionals. To date, more than 75% of the 2,000-euro goal has already been achieved, but a few hundred euros are still needed before the fundraising deadline.

Varied and fun activities #

This trip will not just be a sightseeing tour. The college students will have planned activities that include treasure hunts, questionnaires about the places visited, as well as interviews with host families. Each student will also keep a logbook to share their impressions and learnings during the stay. These activities aim to make learning English both fun and interactive.

Additional actions to support the project #

In addition to fundraising, a lottery will be organized during the winter to raise more financial resources. Partners and donors are then called to contribute by offering prizes for this event. This will not only support the trip but also bring joy to the college students during their stay in London.
