The Plaine de l’Ain is about to experience a major turning point with the arrival of a new tourist office dedicated to the famous medieval city of Pérouges. This project, led by the community of communes of the Plaine de l’Ain, aims to improve visitor reception while centralizing teams to enhance the services offered in this region rich in history and heritage.

An ambitious project for the centralization of services #

The current initiative is part of a desire to modernize access to tourist information. The future tourist office will be relocated to a more spacious and welcoming area, allowing for better responses to visitor needs. By allowing a centralization of teams, particularly those operating in Chazey-sur-Ain and Ambérieu-en-Bugey, the project aims to strengthen the cohesion and efficiency of the region’s tourist services.

The new Pérouges Bugey tourism office will be constructed on a site previously occupied by an old warehouse, near the Plâtre square. With a planned surface area of 211 m² spread over two levels, this space has been designed to offer an optimal user experience. Future developments will allow for the organization of events, exhibitions, and activities that will showcase the local heritage and its tourist assets.

Enhanced reception and new services #

The objective of the office is not limited to providing information. It also aims to expand the range of services offered to tourists. The region plans to offer detailed brochures, guided tours, thematic paths, as well as cultural and festive activities. The project benefits from strong support from the town hall of Pérouges and the community of communes, which see this office as a lever for economic development. Jean-Luc Vibert, the first deputy to the mayor, emphasizes that “the project is well perceived,” and the collaboration of the various stakeholders is a major asset for the effective implementation of this initiative. By renovating the reception areas, the medieval city aims to mark a new beginning in its tourist development strategy.
