A pedagogical initiative at the heart of the territory #
The “Coloration Tourism” project was developed after a thorough analysis of professional practices at the tourist sites managed by Sesta. Led by Gisèle Fonta, delegate for professional training, and Florent Feuillâtre, economics and management teacher, this unique initiative aims to familiarize students with the world of tourism during the winter season. By collaborating with local businesses in the sector, students have the opportunity to understand the economic and social issues involved.
A week of immersive and creative learning #
During this week, students were engaged in two main activities designed to meet the needs of the local market. The first aimed to strengthen their professional skills by immersing them in real environments where they could interact with various actors in the field. The second focused on adapting to a constantly evolving tourism sector, accompanied by a reflection on how they could contribute to the enhancement of the regional economy.
Commitment of local businesses #
The businesses in the Ax-les-Thermes valley play a crucial role in this experience. By opening their doors to students, they offer them a concrete and enriching immersion. These meetings illustrate the diversity of professions related to winter tourism while highlighting the importance of the local economy. Students can thus observe the various facets of the professions in the sector and understand the challenges involved.
Opportunities for discovery and training #
Jean Durroux High School has also scheduled an open house on Saturday, February 1, allowing the public to discover the different programs taught within the institution. This approach is part of a desire to make the establishment accessible and to raise awareness of the family spirit and commitment to quality education in a local setting. Students will thus be able to showcase the skills acquired during their immersion while helping to promote winter tourism and the challenges it presents.
