On February 3, 2025, the city of Eurre was the site of a significant event for the tourism sector: the first Meetings on Sustainable Tourism. Organized by the Drôme Attractivity Agency, this meeting brought together 150 actors from the field, eager to share their experiences and discuss initiatives aimed at promoting environmentally friendly tourism. This article explores the highlights of this event and the perspectives it opens for the future of sustainable tourism in the region.
A conducive environment for exchange #
The campus of the Val de Drôme eco-site served as the setting for this event, which was designed to foster networking among sector professionals. Two major sessions structured the day. The first was dedicated to the presentation of the national brand Accueil vélo and bicycle tourism, providing an overview of the efforts made to make this practice more accessible and popular. This also illustrates a strong commitment to soft mobility, a concept at the heart of discussions on sustainable tourism.
Enriching round tables #
After the presentation, three round tables allowed participants to address crucial topics. Among the themes discussed was “Towards Sustainable Tourism: Why? How?”, addressing the reasons and methods for evolving towards a more environmentally friendly tourism model. The second round table, titled “Committed Hosts”, highlighted concrete initiatives implemented by professionals in the sector, thus demonstrating that it is possible to combine economy and ecology in the tourism sector.
A general mobilization #
The participation of 150 professionals, ranging from hosts to travel agents, reflects a genuine mobilization around the challenges of sustainable tourism. These meetings thus constituted a real rallying point for local actors wishing to exchange their strategies and experiences. The momentum initiated during this event promises to generate a strong and engaged network for promoting responsible tourism in the Drôme.
Towards a promising future #
With the Drôme’s growing commitment to slow tourism, these Meetings on Sustainable Tourism are a strong sign of the direction taken by the territory. The success of this first edition paves the way for similar future events, allowing for the reinforcement of actions in favor of sustainability within the tourism sector. Participants left Eurre with ideas, contacts, and a desire to act for a more sustainable and environmentally respectful tourism.
