The ‘Youth Holiday Horizon’ program offers significant developments this year in Charente-Maritime, with an increase in the number of destinations and financial assistance for families. Aimed at allowing children aged 6 to 16 to go to summer camp, this program includes innovative initiatives to ensure inclusion and accessibility for all.

An expanded offer with new destinations

This year, ‘Youth Holiday Horizon’ brings a breath of fresh air by presenting a total of 98 destinations, an increase of 16 new options compared to the previous year. Among these destinations is the opening of a section in Spain, where children will have the opportunity to travel from Barcelona to Madrid via Tarragona. These new proposals aim to provide young people from Charente-Maritime with a rewarding and varied experience outside their usual routine.

Financial support for families

The program is also designed to be more inclusive financially. Families with a family quotient not exceeding €1100 will be able to benefit from assistance of €150 for a stay of at least five days, thanks to the Holiday Voucher. This initiative reflects a clear commitment to making vacations accessible, even for the most modest households, ensuring that every child can experience holiday time.

Promoting the inclusion of children

One of the most notable aspects of this program is its commitment to inclusion. With the participation of holiday centers like Outdoor Holidays, specific measures are being put in place to welcome children with disabilities. Specialized instructors are assigned to adapt activities and ensure that everyone can fully participate without feeling excluded. A new stay dedicated to children with mental disabilities has also been introduced in Aytré, reinforcing this inclusive approach.

Enhanced mixed activities

The program also emphasizes eliminating gender stereotypes within summer camps. Now, girls can participate in activities traditionally reserved for boys, such as archery, while boys are encouraged to join cooking workshops. This shift not only promotes equality among children but also enriches their experiences and encourages personal development.

A significant budget for sustainable commitment

To bring all these initiatives to life, the Department voted a budget of €130,000 last year. This investment demonstrates the strong commitment of the departmental council to youth activities and its desire to enable every child to experience enriching and varied vacations. The ‘Youth Holiday Horizon’ program thus positions itself as a cornerstone of youth policies in Charente-Maritime.
