Rhône: the promise of a bright future for Beaujolais in terms of tourism

IN BRIEF

  • Renaming of the tourism office, now called Beaujolais Tourisme since 2024
  • Presentation of the 2024 report and tourism projects in the presence of 120 participants
  • Nearly 500 members including hoteliers, restaurateurs, hosts, officials, and associations
  • Main objectives: development of local values, promotion of business and strengthening of the collective
  • Stated ambition to enhance the attractiveness of the Beaujolais region

Located in the heart of the Rhône department, the Beaujolais is increasingly asserting itself as an essential tourist destination. Driven by a collective dynamic and supported by institutional renewal, the territory is experiencing a gradual rise in its attractiveness. Led by the tourism office, now called Beaujolais Tourisme, the region focuses on the development of innovative projects, the consistent involvement of its local stakeholders, and the enhancement of its heritage and natural assets to shape a bright future for tourism.

A strong identity and collective commitment

The Beaujolais continuously asserts its unique identity, forged by its rolling landscapes, authentic villages, and its wine heritage recognized beyond our borders. The newly named tourism office, Beaujolais Tourisme in 2024, embodies this desire to unite all local actors. Around president Denis Garnier and director Thomas Desmurs, nearly 500 members from hospitality, catering, accommodation, and cultural activities are united with the goal of reinforcing the territory’s visibility. The stated ambition is clear: develop new values, encourage economic growth, and strengthen the collective to promote Beaujolais nationally and internationally.

Ambitious projects for sustainable development

At the Domaine des Communes, during the presentation of the reports and projects for the upcoming season, Beaujolais Tourisme emphasized a strategy of sustainable and innovative development. Initiatives come to life through strengthened partnerships with institutions, original activities, and a constant focus on local terroir and culture. This dynamism helps transform the tourism offer by prioritizing personalized experiences, slow tourism, and immersive discoveries, such as exploring Lyon by van, or unusual routes on lesser-known TER lines from Lyon.

A diversified tourist offer and an exceptional territory

One of the assets of the Beaujolais lies in the variety of its offerings, which appeals to a wide audience: wine enthusiasts, heritage lovers, families seeking relaxation, as well as those looking for unique experiences. Thanks to the commitment of associations, elected officials, and all professionals in the sector, the region offers major events, dedicated fairs, such as the Salon Loisirs Tourisme Saint-Bernard, and numerous suggestions for discovering must-see places around Lyon. These initiatives enhance the attractiveness of a territory already synonymous with art of living, refined gastronomy, and conviviality.

Towards a rise in experiential tourism

By focusing on excellence and innovation, the Beaujolais continuously enriches its offerings to meet the current aspirations of visitors: immersion in golden villages, tasting exceptional crus, or seasonal getaways such as must-try autumn experiences in Paris that inspire the territory. Upcoming projects reflect a desire to integrate new trends, enhance heritage, and promote a sustainable development dynamic. Thus, the Beaujolais aims to establish itself as a model in the responsible management and promotion of tourism within the Rhône department.
