In Réquista, the tourist office of Réquistanais hosts a singular artistic exhibition that is as unique as it is rooted in the Aveyron terroir. A collective work, the result of the creativity of amateur painters from the Ateliers du Puech de Mosel, is unveiled: a unique landscape composition through fifteen paintings made with local earths. This event, born on the occasion of the Days of Heritage of the Country, invites the public to explore the richness of the department’s soils while highlighting the deep connection between heritage, nature, and artistic expression.

A collective work shaped by the Aveyron terroir

On Friday, June 27, the public gathered at the Réquista tourist office to discover a unique work, initiated by Lyliane Bonneau, president of the office, and carried by France Salzone, head of the Ateliers du Puech de Mosel. This creation resembles no other: it is a composite canvas comprising fifteen small paintings arranged into a vast landscape. The common thread? Each element was conceived from natural earths carefully collected from different regions of Aveyron.

This artistic approach gives pride of place to the region’s raw materials: the black earth of Laguiole, that of Decazeville, the red earth of Marcillac and Camarès, and the unique clay of Réquistanais, known for its famous “lou cran”. The astonishing diversity of colors achieved celebrates the mosaic of landscapes in the region while reminding us of the importance of soil in the history, daily life, and inspiration of Aveyron generations.

Heritage honored through art

This creation finds its origin in the “earth to earth” theme proposed for the Days of Heritage of the Country. The participants wanted to give meaning to their approach: beyond the aesthetic aspect, their desire is to place the earth at the heart of living heritage. That is why, after its exhibition at the tourist office, the work aims to join an emblematic site in the region, such as the château de Brousse or the moulin de Roupeyrac. Visitors to these places will be able to discover how the work of the earth, essential to rural life, also becomes a source of inspiration and dialogue between past and present.

An invitation to explore the Aveyron territory

Seeing this exhibition in Réquista offers an immersive experience at the heart of local heritage. Each painting, in its uniqueness, inspires contemplation and wonder at the textures and shades offered by natural resources. This project also encourages exploring Aveyron, discovering its villages, traditions, and events. For those who wish to extend their exploration of heritage, the region also offers unmissable meetings and activities, from historical celebrations of D-Day to memorial trips to Washington, including a weekend in La Rochelle, an immersion in the musical scene of Nashville, or a historical event in a village.

The exhibition set up at the Réquista tourist office thus offers more than just a visual experience: it is a true immersion into the richness of Aveyron’s traditions, materials, and creativity.
