IN BRIEF
|
A dozen adolescents from the social and cultural center La Cour des miracles experienced a week filled with discovery and good humor in Brittany in the heart of summer. From July 28 to August 2, their stay in Vannes combined heritage, nature, and island life, made possible by their commitment to a solidarity project and support from the CAF. Between rides on the small train, crossings to Île d’Arz and Île aux Moines, a day in Quiberon, and meetings, the youth returned with lasting memories and a desire to continue the collective adventure, after a July already rich in activities in Gard.
In the marine setting of the Gulf of Morbihan, the group took the time to feel the rhythm of the tides, observe the changing light on the granite rocks, and immerse themselves in Breton culture. In Vannes, a ride on the small train outlined the contours of a city with a medieval soul, before heading towards island horizons where the landscape becomes more mineral, more briny, more intimate. Each day combined curiosity, sharing, and friendliness, providing the young people with an ideal environment to forge bonds and gain autonomy.
A Summer 2025 Between Sea and Heritage in Brittany
The program alternated urban stops and maritime getaways: discovery of the historic center of Vannes on a small train, excursion to the Île d’Arz with its paths lined with low walls and sheltered creeks, a day in Quiberon to feel the power of the wild coast, then exploration of the Île aux Moines, pearl of the gulf, where each path opens onto soothing marine panoramas. To extend the wonder of heritage, other inspiring trips invite comparison, such as a visit to a medieval village and its 200 monuments, a dive into the living history of stones and alleys.
The Power of Collective Commitment
If this getaway came to fruition, it is primarily thanks to the leisure project carried out the previous week in the municipality: a concrete action, driven by the involvement and motivation of the youth, which contributed to funding the stay, complemented by the support of the CAF. This virtuous model — acting to create one’s trip — strengthened the pride of the group. Each one was able to recognize that a project is conceived by several hands, from the first helping hand to the last steps on Breton paths.
An Exceptional Adventure for the Young People of La Cour des miracles — Between Sea, Culture, and Friendliness
Throughout the outings, the adolescents multiplied moments of sharing: picnics on the points, breaks sheltered by maritime pines, laughter carried by the wind, observations of coastal wildlife. The crossings to the islands rhythmically accompanied the gentle itinerary of the stay, like a parenthesis where one takes the time to watch, listen, and tell stories. Between sea and heritage, the experience combined learning and pleasure.
Vannes by Small Train, a Living Historical Heart
Within the ramparts of Vannes, the timber-framed houses, gardens, squares, and fountains revealed a warm and human-scale city. The commented discovery provided benchmarks to better understand the architecture, the eras, and the uses. For those wishing to continue exploring unique heritages, more distant inspirations abound, such as a trip to the Rila Monastery, the spiritual heart of Bulgaria, where cultural dimensions blend with meditation.
Island Getaways: Île d’Arz and Île-aux-Moines
On the Île d’Arz, the softness of the coastal paths invited contemplation: sailing boats in the distance, the scent of gorse, silence only disturbed by seabirds. On the Île-aux-Moines, the more lush vegetation and viewpoints of the Gulf of Morbihan gave the group another palette of atmospheres. These island parentheses sharpened the desire to explore differently, at a nomadic pace. To prepare for future outings in autonomy, it is better to know the needs of nomadic travelers in vans and to imagine itineraries suited to young audiences.
An Exceptional Adventure for the Young People of La Cour des miracles — Memories That Inspire Further Discoveries
Beyond the Breton stay, the summer was abundant. The 11/17 year-olds shared a picnic and swimming outing in the river at Saint-Étienne-Vallée-Française with their comrades from the Kiosk in Saint-Julien-les-Rosiers, enjoyed the swimming pool of Saint-Jean-de-Valériscle, took on sports challenges on the beach of Grau-du-Roi during “Grau Lanta,” and participated in intercenter meetings with Redessan and Montpellier. At the social and cultural center, barbecues and petanque punctuated days gathered under the sign of living together.
Learning and Autonomy
These experiences develop transversal skills — cooperation, responsibility, time management, respect for others and the environment. They also nourish a curiosity for other territories.
