IN BRIEF
|
Starting from August 15, 2023, two young adventurers, Marie and Quentin, from Aurillac in Cantal, are embarking on a unique journey of 16,000 km by bicycle, crossing Eurasia until they reach Mount Fuji. This project, named Ortus, aims to be much more than just a cycling adventure; it is part of a quest for discovery, sharing, and pedagogy. This article recounts the beginning of their journey, the challenges that await them, and their dreams and inspirations.
The Start of a Great Adventure
The big day arrives, Marie and Quentin leave Aurillac, surrounded by an atmosphere filled with emotion. Their momentum is strengthened by the beauty of the Cantal mountains behind them, witnesses to their overflowing energy. Equipped with 25 kg of carefully selected gear, they head towards the horizon, illuminated by the enthusiasm of a dream to fulfill. Their first stage will be decisive, laying the foundations of an adventure where each pedal stroke will bring them closer to Asia.
A Crossing of Eurasia
The crossing of Eurasia represents a colossal challenge that demands both mental and physical preparation. Marie and Quentin have set ambitious goals for themselves. During this journey, they wish to discover diverse cultures, raise awareness among local populations about environmental preservation, and share their passion for cycling. In doing so, they hope to create moments of exchange, learning, and solidarity at each stop along their route.
Inspiration at the Heart of the Adventure
The Ortus project is not limited to a simple geographical crossing. It is based on a desire to live in the moment, to learn from encounters, and to inspire others to follow their footsteps through a collective adventure. The varied landscapes they will encounter, from dense forests to open plains, will be sources of personal enrichment. Each country crossed will bring its share of surprises, flavors, and traditions to discover, thus adding invaluable richness to their story.
Challenges to Overcome
Throughout their journey, Marie and Quentin will face various challenges, from physical fatigue to unpredictable weather. Planning the appropriate gear will be essential, but the strength of their legs will be their greatest asset. Indeed, their adventure is not merely a display of personal performance; it is a daily learning experience. Such a journey requires adaptability and resilience, two qualities that will sharpen with each new experience encountered along the way.
An Escape Beyond the Roads
As they travel through countries and cultures, the notion of escape intensifies. Each stage is an opportunity to let go and embrace these moments of life. With the wind on their faces and the roads passing beneath their wheels, they move closer to a deeper quest: to reconnect with nature and with themselves. This cycling adventure thus becomes a means to explore not only unknown lands but also their own capacity to overcome both material and personal obstacles.
Towards Mount Fuji and Beyond
Their final destination, Mount Fuji, symbolizes a mountain of challenges on which they hope to plant their flag. But beyond the destination, it is the journey that truly matters. Marie and Quentin aim to document all these intense moments, in order to infuse their passion into an audience of curious people, travel enthusiasts, and adventurers. By leaving a written and photographic trace of their route, they hope to inspire others to hit the road and live their own adventure, on two wheels, hand in hand with the wonders of the world.
