Located in the heart of the bustling Blackfriars district, the NYnLON restaurant is an irresistible fusion of New York and London cuisine, all set within the modern framework of the Hyatt Regency hotel. This historic venue, with its intriguing past, invites gourmets to savor comforting dishes in an accessible and friendly atmosphere. In this article, we will explore the various facets of this restaurant, from decor to menu, including the overall experience.
A historic and welcoming setting #
NYnLON is housed in a Grade II listed building, which was once the site of Bridewell Palace, famous for being the divorce venue of King Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. Over the centuries, this address has lived many lives, including that of a women’s prison in the 18th century. Today, this space, with its rich history, hosts a restaurant where the past meets modernity, offering a relaxing yet elegant environment, with wooden floors, soft lighting, and brass decor elements.
An enticing menu of reimagined classic dishes #
The menu at NYnLON restaurant features a delicious fusion between comforting London dishes and the typical culinary style of New York. Grilled meats and large plates take center stage with tasty choices like Salmon Chop, Sugar Pit Pork Chop, and 35-day aged Rib-Eye. Seafood lovers will be delighted by the Fish & Chips, and meat enthusiasts will enjoy the NY Strip Steak. Salad options and reworked classics like Buttermilk Chicken Buffalo round out the offerings.
Flavorful starters
We started our culinary adventure with marinated zucchini, accompanied by cannellini beans and a delicious hummus sprinkled with smoked almonds. Each bite was a festival of flavors. The vegan Burrella, a succulent plant-based cheese, was served on a mildly spiced tomato sauce, garnished with Kalamata olives and black figs. This starter perfectly opened our appetite and showcased the ingenuity of the cuisine.
Main courses that delight
For the main courses, we chose the BBQ baby chicken, perfectly golden and juicy, served with a corn salad, as well as the Salmon Chop that charmed us with its dill marinade and flavorful coating. The latter, juicy and well-seasoned, was accompanied by a mix of fennel and mojo, a sauce made from garlic, olive oil, and bitter orange juice, which exquisitely enhanced the flavor of the fish.
Irresistible sides
To complete our meal, we added crispy fries, seasoned sprouted broccoli tossed in a spicy vinaigrette, and polenta chips sprinkled with 24-month aged parmesan and accompanied by truffle mayo. The whole was an explosion of textures and flavors, proving that even sides deserve to be celebrated.
A stylish and relaxed bar experience #
The long bar at NYnLON serves as a beautiful focal point where guests can settle in for a drink or a cocktail. With an impressive range of American wines, premium champagnes, and craft beers, this venue is sure to please even the most discerning palates. The mixology focused on American bourbon adds a trendy and relaxed touch to the experience.
