Recently, more than 120 tourism stakeholders gathered at the Château d’Excideuil to discuss a large-scale project aimed at enhancing and energizing the attractiveness of the Green Périgord. Under the auspices of local elected officials and with the support of the Mission of Tourist Offices of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, these offices have committed to collaborating to define a strong and unifying tourist identity for this unique destination.

Meeting the Tourism Stakeholders

This gathering served as a platform for exchanges among various tourism stakeholders from community clusters such as Périgord Nontronnais, Dronne et Belle, Périgord-Limousin, and Isle Loue Auvézère in Périgord. Representatives such as Colette Langlade, regional councilor, and Isabelle Hyvoz, vice-president of Périgord-Limousin, emphasized the importance of this initiative. The main goal of this meeting? To work together to create an attractive and easily identifiable Green Périgord Destination.

A Cooperation Project

In light of the challenges posed by the evolution of the tourism sector, the tourist offices decided to come together as part of the project call titled New Tourist Organization of Territories (Nott) and Support for Changes in Tourist Territories (ACTT) proposed by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region. This cooperative initiative aims to develop a common project to attract even more visitors and energize the local economy.

Building a Strong Tourist Identity

At the heart of this day of exchanges, several collaborative workshops allowed for structuring ideas and identifying courses of action to anchor the tourist identity of the Green Périgord. The first workshop focused on building a coherent tourist identity. Creating a strong and recognizable image is essential to attract new visitors and encourage the development of local activities.

Understanding Visitor Profiles

Another focus area was the analysis of visitor profiles. Understanding who the potential tourists are and their motivations is a major issue for adapting offerings and highlighting the territory’s strengths. The stakeholders explored ways to develop a shared strategy that meets the expectations of various customer groups.

Harmonizing the Dissemination of Tourist Information

The final workshop was dedicated to the dissemination of tourist information. Harmonized communication plays a key role in the attractiveness of a territory. Participants discussed best practices to facilitate access to information for visitors and enhance the visibility of local offerings. It is also about creating synergies between private and public stakeholders for an enriched tourist experience.

Strengthening Ties Between Private and Public Stakeholders

The tourist offices have committed themselves to strengthen their collaboration in order to better meet visitor expectations while supporting the initiatives of local service providers. This joint approach has been praised by all participants, reflecting a unanimous willingness to promote responsible tourism that respects the territory.

With an ambitious project underway, the Green Périgord is positioning itself as a prime destination for nature, heritage, and authenticity enthusiasts. The numerous stakeholders, united for a common goal, are paving the way for future opportunities in this mysterious territory rich in discoveries.
