An unprecedented wave is on the horizon
As the tourism sector experiences an unprecedented transformation, Marennes-Oléron is preparing to embrace the future by merging traditional tourism with artificial intelligence. This change promises to redefine the visitor experience through innovative tools and improve the quality of services offered in the area. During the sustainable tourism forum, professionals got a glimpse of the advancements that are set to revolutionize how vacationers interact with their environment.
An annual meeting for innovation
The sustainable tourism forum, organized by the Marennes-Oléron tourist office, brought together, as every year, experts and actors in the sector. This event took place at the Citadelle of Château-d’Oléron on November 18th and was an opportunity to discover the latest innovations and initiatives aimed at making tourism more sustainable and connected. The proposed conferences generated significant interest, heralding a new era for the destination.
Coq Trotteur: an innovative welcome tool
Among the notable presentations, the introduction of a new welcome tool particularly caught attention. Named Coq Trotteur, this tool is designed to facilitate access to information for visitors by centralizing data from all tourist accommodation providers. Emrick Herbaut, deputy director of the office, emphasized the importance of this tool. In fact, a study reveals that only one in ten visitors goes to a tourist office, while many prefer to inquire with their hosts. Coq Trotteur will thus provide a unique database, conducive to eliminating paper supports, further facilitating the exchange of information.
Artificial intelligence: a revolution in progress
During the second conference, discussions took a decisive turn with the introduction of artificial intelligence in the tourism sector. Emrick Herbaut described this phenomenon as a “wave” that is looming, promising to bring about a radical change. AI will offer tourists a tailored and personalized experience throughout their stay. With intelligent travel assistants, vacationers will benefit from precise recommendations and personalized options, simplifying the organization of their holidays.
Facilitating procedures to enrich the experience
It is crucial today to understand that the arrival of AI is not just a passing trend, but a valuable asset to enhance the visitor experience. By using advanced algorithms, future tools will simplify various procedures, such as vehicle rentals or ticket bookings. This will not replace travelers’ free choice of their destinations, but will eliminate time-consuming tasks, thus making their experience smoother.
A positive impact for tourism professionals
The discussions surrounding AI are also conducive to a redefinition of the roles of tourism professionals. With the automation of several tasks, teams will be able to free up time to focus on hospitality and the quality of the experience offered. As Emrick Herbaut pointed out, this evolution aims to enhance customer satisfaction while improving the working environment for teams in the field.
