IN BRIEF
|
On November 21, the Terre d’Auge tourist office participated in a fair in Tourcoing, aimed at promoting tourism in Normandy to clients from the North. This event brought together several Norman tourist offices with a common goal: to showcase the riches and attractions of this beautiful region while fostering direct exchanges with tourism professionals.
Terre d’Auge in Tourcoing: A Strategic Choice
The decision to participate in this event is not a matter of chance. Indeed, license plates from 59 (Nord) and 62 (Pas-de-Calais) have become familiar in Pont-l’Évêque and in the Pays d’Auge during the summer, representing 16% of visitors from January to September 2024, according to data from the Terre d’Auge tourist office. Émilie Gouye, within the office, emphasizes the importance of meeting potential travelers by going directly to their region.
A B2B Approach for Dynamic Tourism
The fair, strictly B2B in nature, allowed many coach operators to gather in one space. Unlike the traditional method of contacting each professional individually, this event provided a platform for tourism stakeholders to meet and exchange about new opportunities. Émilie Gouye expresses her enthusiasm: “We had been looking for a way to organize an event outside our region for a while, and the North logically stood out.”
Gastronomy in the Spotlight
During this meeting, each territory presented its specificities. For Pont-l’Évêque, gastronomy was highlighted. Indeed, it is difficult to talk about this town without mentioning its famous cheese, which always attracts gourmets. Émilie took the opportunity to also mention other renowned local products: apple and calvados. A representative from the Christian Drouin distillery was present to promote visits to this local institution, thereby reinforcing the association between tourism and gastronomy.
A New Jewel to Discover: Blangy-le-Château
In addition to culinary delights, the tourist office aimed to highlight a new treasure of the region, Blangy-le-Château, which has recently received its classification among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. This label enriches the tourist offer of the territory and attracts curious visitors seeking beautiful discoveries.
