Promising results for 2024
At the last Evening of tourism stakeholders, a positive assessment was made for the year 2024. The numbers speak for themselves: iconic sites such as the Chartreuse and the Black Penitents of Villefranche as well as the Jean-Marie Périer gallery in Villeneuve have doubled their attendance. This trend bodes well for the future, demonstrating that Ouest Aveyron is affirming itself as an essential destination.
Increasing attractiveness
The region is now the refuge sought by a wide range of visitors. In 2024, no less than 50,000 visitors explored the Aveyron landscapes, with around 13,160 visitors in Villeneuve alone. The attraction comes not only from neighboring departments but also from other countries such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain, reflecting the growing impact of Ouest Aveyron on an international scale.
An offer adapted to young families
To reinforce its growth, the intercommunal Tourist Office focuses on a targeted marketing approach, particularly towards young families. Varied promotional materials, fun videos, and established relationships with media help to better promote the region. The Ouest Aveyron website, which attracts an increasing number of visitors, has become a key tool for attracting tourists.
Prestigious labels to enhance recognition
One of the pillars of the tourism strategy has been to obtain labels that highlight the beauty of the villages and the quality of their heritage. Villeneuve has managed to obtain the title of “Most Beautiful Village in France”, while Sainte-Croix has been labeled “Small Town of Character”. These distinctions ensure greater visibility and additional appeal for tourists in search of authenticity.
Sustainable development at the heart of concerns
Jean-Pierre Masbou, mayor of Villeneuve, emphasized the importance that the development of tourism must be done respecting the quality of life of residents. He stated that the future of the municipality relies on a shared responsibility between tourism stakeholders and residents, ensuring that tourism generates economic benefits while preserving the living environment.

In a context where tourism is undergoing a transformation, Ouest Aveyron stands out thanks to its innovative initiatives and exceptional natural environment.
