This beginning of July has been a time of educational adventure for the students of Preignan, who set out to discover the maritime riches of Biarritz. Three intense days filled with educational activities, cultural immersions, and collective experiences along the Atlantic coasts. This getaway combined explorations, collective games, and environmental awareness, all under the guidance of their teachers and dedicated parents.
An enriching immersion in the maritime world
At dawn of the trip, the CM1 and CM2 students could not hide their excitement. They were heading towards Biarritz, the famous Basque capital known for its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The program offered a series of activities designed to awaken curiosity and environmental consciousness among the children. During the visit to the lighthouse, they were able to admire the stunning panoramic view of the bay and understand the importance of these maritime sentinels for navigation.
Exploring the aquarium and the marine world
The visit to the aquarium was a highlight: immersion among local species, meeting the seals during feeding time, and learning about the importance of preserving marine ecosystems. These discoveries were concrete and participative, allowing each student to observe, ask questions, and marvel at the diversity of aquatic fauna.
Cultural and sports approach with basque pelote
The introduction to basque pelote and pala complemented this trip, inviting children to make their own pelote. Each child then had the chance to practice these typical sports, deeply rooted in local identity. This activity allowed participants to grasp the cultural richness of the Basque region, while developing team spirit and coordination.
Boat trip and treasure hunt along the coast
The boat outing was another highlight, allowing for encounters with the coast and its remarkable landscapes. The boat trip provided children with the opportunity to observe the waves, listen to educational explanations about natural phenomena, and enrich their knowledge through a playful treasure hunt along the beach. Environmental awareness and waste collection
Among the key moments of this trip, the waste collection action on the beach raised awareness among each student about the need to protect natural environments. This collective experience added to many initiatives in favor of sustainable development visible during similar experiences, such as discoveries of remarkable natural sites in France.
A collective experience and community life
Beyond the educational program, this stay in Biarritz was for many a first experience of community life outside the family circle. The young participants shared daily responsibilities, meal preparation, and rest periods, under the caring supervision of teachers and accompanying parents. This way of life enhances autonomy, respect for others, and solidarity, which are essential values in personal development.
An enriched return to school life
After these three intense days, the students returned with their heads full of memories and a new perspective on the sea and its challenges. This educational trip aligns with the spirit of great discoveries, similar to road trips offered on the Costa Brava, in the landscapes of Ireland, or among the natural and cultural treasures of Norway. This collective experience concluded upon their return, just before the school fête, wrapping up a school year rich in sharing, learning, and opening up to the world.
